British designer Lee Broom is showcasing his collection Heritage Boy at the Future Gallery during the London Design Festival. Drawing upon influences from traditional British manufacturing industries, Heritage Boy explores the areas of carpetry, parquetry and tiles. In the Carpetry range, Broom incorporates Persian rugs, which are common in many British homes, into each design. Iconic imagery, such as the crown jewels, has been woven into the compositions. Parquetry is a method that fuses different types of woods together to create ornamental patterns. With tiles, Broom uses hand-carved ceramic pieces as decorative elements on the surfaces of coffee tables and lamps. The tiles were produced by the same factory that creates the tilework for the London Underground.
